Client: KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission
BPS was requested by the KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission to develop a plan for bicycle and pedestrian facilities in the urbanized areas of Lawrence County. The study focuses primarily on active transportation connections between the southeastern part of the County, in the Proctorville area, and the southwestern part of the County, in the Ironton area.
During this planning process, BPS has utilized public outreach methods to involve the community, including public meetings, stakeholder committee meetings, and an online survey. BPS is currently working on pedestrian and bicycle facility and network recommendations for the study area, as well as a gap analysis, which will incorporate survey results, fieldwork, stakeholder and public meeting information, and best practices research; and creating an evaluation matrix of options. In addition, a methodology for project prioritization will also be developed.
