Erie County Hazard Mitigation Plan
Erie County was recently awarded a Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant to update our County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. This update is required by FEMA every five years to remain eligible for funding for projects. Municipalities, police and fire departments, schools, businesses, and the general public may receive funding for any mitigation strategy found in the approved and adopted plan update.
This website will remain up to date with information regarding the Erie County Hazard Mitigation Planning process, including meeting dates, surveys, and other meeting materials. Please check back often for updates.

Meeting 1 Materials:
- Goals Survey – This survey asks communities to reflect on the Goals they want included in the 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan.
- Hazard Priorities Survey – This survey asks you to consider the hazards identified in the 2021 Plan and determine if they are still relevant.
- Previous Mitigation Action Survey – This survey asks communities to reflect on the projects they wanted included in the 2021 Hazard Mitigation Plan. Communities are asked to provide the status of each mitigation action and suggest any new actions they would like included in this plan update.
- Plan Integration Survey – This survey asks jurisdiction elected officials to describe how they integrated the 2021Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Meeting 2 Materials:
- Mitigation Action Scoring Matrix – As part of the hazard mitigation planning process, communities are asked to identify specific projects and activities (mitigation actions) that will help their communities achieve long-term outcomes related to hazards.
